What Is TNBT (Tetra N-Butyl Titanate)?

TNBT – Tetra N-Butyl Titanate is a highly reactive organotitanium compound used as a catalyst, crosslinking agent, surface treatment agent, and coupling agent.
It plays a critical role in industries such as polyesters, polyurethanes, silicones, epoxies, coatings, plastics, and adhesives.

Although similar to TIPT (Tetra Isopropyl Titanate), TNBT has a different alkyl structure, making it more slowly hydrolyzed, more controlled in reactivity, and capable of forming coatings with better film quality.


🔧 What Is TNBT Used For?

1. Catalyst

Accelerates reactions in polyester, polyurethane, silicone, and esterification processes.

2. Crosslinking Agent

Enhances film hardness, chemical resistance, and UV stability in coating and paint formulations.

3. Coupling Agent

Improves bonding between polymers and surfaces such as metal, glass, ceramics, minerals, and oxides.

4. Curing Accelerator (Drier)

Reduces drying time in paints, varnishes, and inks, helping to form smoother and stronger films.

5. Reactivity Enhancer for Resin Systems

Improves adhesive strength and durability in polyester, acrylic, and alkyd resin systems.
